Outline of the ‘Writing for Children’ Weekend

With

Lynne Reid Banks

and Laura Mathews

5th-8th October.

Back to courses.

Guests will arrive any time after 5 o’clock on Friday evening. The evening will be spent getting to know our two tutors and enjoying a good meal. We shall discuss each other’s work and interest in children’s writing.

We assemble after breakfast at 10 am for a workshop- based session of spontaneous writing. We will all read out short pieces of our own work and at the end of this session there will be time for questions and discussions with both our tutors.

After lunch there will be a series of one to one individual

tutorials with both our tutors. This will be an opportunity to show examples of your writing and discuss work- in- hand. These sessions will last up to 45 minutes each.

On Saturday night, our tutors will be joining us for dinner.

Sunday will take a similar pattern , we will however, take a break and spend some time in the fresh air and see some of our glorious Dorset Countryside.

There will be time during this weekend for continuation of work in progress and for those who need inspiration there will be ideas and support. There will also be time for discussion about getting published and entering competitions. Together we will share a mutual interest in children’s writing in a supportive environment and spend time with two very successful writers.
